Source: aruba.com weather page, read 7 November 2026. The same page gives an annual average of 18 inches of rain and says it is rare to experience rain all day.

What the tourism board says

Aruba's southern location keeps it well south of the main hurricane belt, and "hurricanes are extremely rare." During the June to November season the island can still feel side effects, such as a lack of wind or occasional showers. The tourism board adds that trade winds are almost always present, constant and refreshing, and stronger from May to October, which the page calls the windy season. VisitAruba's weather guide says the island sits outside the hurricane belt and gives the hurricane risk as effectively zero, with northeast trade winds of 15 to 20 mph through most of the year.

Curaçao for comparison

Curaçao's tourism board says it is in the Southern Caribbean, right outside the hurricane belt, with an average temperature of about 27 °C (81 °F) and trade winds from the east strongest in spring. Both islands are outside the belt, so the hurricane season is not a reason to choose one over the other; the choice is about beaches, activities and distances.

What this means for a trip in hurricane season

  • Rain. October is the wettest month at 1.3 inches, and the rainy season runs October to December. Showers are brief. For the full month-by-month picture see the best time to visit Aruba and Aruba in December.
  • Wind. Wind is strongest from May to October, so it matters for boat trips; see snorkeling tours in Aruba and catamaran cruises.
  • Heat. August and September average 88 °F, the hottest months on the table, so plan outdoor excursions for the morning; the Rancho Notorious rides start as early as 7:00 am (see horseback riding in Aruba).
  • Sea conditions at the Natural Pool. Swimming is safe only when ocean conditions are calm, in any month; see Aruba's Natural Pool.
  • Where to stay. The weather facts above apply to the whole island; for areas and prices see where to stay in Aruba.

Typical mistakes

  • Assuming a "hurricane season" label means rough weather every day: the island is outside the belt and the tourism board calls hurricanes extremely rare.
  • Expecting a dry September: the table shows 1.2 inches that month and 1.3 inches in October.
  • Confusing a windy day with a storm: May to October is the windy season, and the trade winds are almost always present.
  • Packing for rain all day: the tourism board says rain all day is rare.
