Source for rain and temperature: aruba.com weather page. VisitAruba's weather guide gives November and December daytime temperatures of 80 to 86 °F (27 to 30 °C) with low rain, and says prices climb as Christmas approaches, so it advises booking ahead.
What December is like
- Wind. The windy season (May to October) is over, and trade winds are almost always present but lighter than in summer.
- Rain. The rainy season ends this month; showers are brief.
- Hurricanes. Aruba is south of the main hurricane belt and the Atlantic season ends in November. See Aruba hurricane season.
- Crowds. Rising through December toward the January and February peak. Book hotels and tours early; for areas see where to stay in Aruba.
What to do in December
- On the water. The Red Sail Antilla snorkel sail ($79 adult, $63 child, 3 hours, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) and the Octopus happy hour sunset sail ($89.99, 5:00 to 7:00 pm) are listed on VisitAruba. See the Aruba sunset cruise and shipwreck snorkeling.
- On the coast. A quad or buggy ride is $130 to $135 for a single ATV rider and $200 for a two-seater UTV, 4 hours; see Aruba ATV tours and UTV tours.
- On horseback. Rancho Notorious rides start at $105; the sunset ride is $130. See horseback riding in Aruba.
- Free. The Donkey Sanctuary is open every day 9:00 am to 4:00 pm except January 1, with no admission.
- A park day. Arikok National Park is open daily 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- Nightlife. Palm Beach is the hub; see Aruba nightlife.
A 4x4 off-road tour that includes the Natural Pool and Baby Beach is available on GetYourGuide, rated 4.9 from 254 reviews (read 7 November 2026): full-day island jeep safari from Oranjestad.
Packing and planning
December highs are in the low to mid 80s °F, so light clothing and sun protection are the basics. Because showers are brief and rain all day is rare, a light rain layer is enough, and a rainy morning rarely cancels the whole day. For the whole year see the best time to visit Aruba, and for costs see the cost of a trip to Aruba.
Typical mistakes
- Expecting the dry season: it starts in January, and December is still the rainy season.
- Booking late: VisitAruba says prices climb as Christmas approaches.
- Planning Natural Pool swimming without checking the sea: it is only safe when conditions are calm.
- Counting on the Donkey Sanctuary on January 1: it closes that day.
