What the tourism board says

The board's weather page gives the hurricane facts in one place: Aruba's southern location keeps it well south of the main Atlantic hurricane belt, hurricanes are extremely rare, and the effect of passing storms from June to November can be a lack of wind or occasional showers. That is the honest summary for September. The month is not a safe-from-weather guarantee, and the board does not claim it is; it says that storms are not what a typical visitor notices. If you need a firm plan, check the forecast the week you travel and read the policy of any tour operator you book (see Aruba hurricane season).

The wind may drop

Because the trade winds are almost always present and stronger from May to October, a day without wind is the change a traveler is most likely to feel in September. In practice that means a hotter beach afternoon at 88 °F and calmer water on the exposed coast. The Natural Pool inside Arikok National Park is a swim only in calm ocean conditions, so a calm day can be the better one for it (see Aruba's Natural Pool).

What to book in September

  • Morning tours. Rancho Notorious horse rides start as early as 7:00 am (see horseback riding in Aruba). The Oranjestad historic walk is at 9:00 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (see Aruba walking tours).
  • Snorkel sail. The Red Sail Antilla runs 2:00 to 5:00 pm at $79 for adults and $63 for children aged 5 to 11 (VisitAruba, read 7 November 2026). See shipwreck snorkeling.
  • Evening plans. The Fusion of the World food tour in Oranjestad runs Mondays and Thursdays at 6:00 pm, about 2.5 hours, with five restaurants and five drinks (arubawalkingtours.com, read 7 November 2026). A group sunset catamaran is about $90 (see Aruba sunset cruises).
  • Indoor option. For a day when you want to be out of the sun, see Aruba rainy day activities.

Where to stay

Palm Beach is lively and Eagle Beach is quiet (see Palm Beach vs Eagle Beach). We publish no September hotel prices; check the cancellation terms in the hotel box for your dates, since a flexible rate is the sensible choice in storm season.

September compared with its neighbors

August has 1.2 inches of rain and 88 °F, September 1.2 inches and 88 °F, October 1.3 inches and 87 °F (aruba.com weather page, read 7 November 2026). October is the wettest month and the start of the rainy season, which the board runs from October to December (see Aruba in August and Aruba in October).

Typical mistakes

  • Assuming a dry September: the table shows 1.2 inches of rain.
  • Reading "hurricane season" as certain bad weather: the board calls hurricanes extremely rare.
  • Booking a non-refundable rate without reading the cancellation terms.
  • Planning a Natural Pool swim without asking whether the sea is calm.
