What a budget stay means in Aruba

All five properties are low-rise or small-scale and, apart from Serene by the Sea, either sit on Eagle Beach or within reach of Palm Beach. The tourism board lists no budget category with prices, so the decision is about what each property includes. A kitchen turns breakfast and some dinners into groceries; free beach loungers, as at MVC Eagle Beach, save a daily rental; free beach transport, as at Caribbean Palm Village, avoids a taxi. Serene by the Sea is the opposite shape: four rooms in Savaneta, one of the island's oldest towns, with breakfast, towels and snorkel gear included. The board says it runs regular discounts at certain times of the year.

Costs outside the room

A budget trip is decided by transport and fees as much as by the room:

  • Airport taxi. $37 to $41 per taxi to Eagle or Palm Beach (up to 4 people), plus $5 at night, on Sundays and on holidays (Visit Aruba, read 6 November 2026).
  • Between the beaches. $16 by taxi from Palm Beach to Eagle Beach, or $2.60 per bus ride and $15 for a day pass on Arubus (arubus.com).
  • Arrival fee. $20 per visitor by air, with children under 8 exempt (aruba.com).
  • Free things. The Donkey Sanctuary is free (open 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily except January 1), and the beaches are public (see the Donkey Sanctuary, Eagle Beach and Druif Beach).

Which one for whom

  • Couples who cook: Amsterdam Manor, with a kitchen in each studio or suite, in front of the Fofoti trees on Eagle Beach.
  • Groups of four: the MVC Eagle Beach Quad room, with two bedrooms (one king and one with two singles).
  • Families or long stays: Paradise Beach Villas, which offers studios up to a three-bedroom penthouse.
  • A bigger resort feel: Caribbean Palm Village, with 170 rooms and two pools.
  • Quiet and local: Serene by the Sea in Savaneta, but it is far from the resort strips; see how to get around before you choose.

For the resort-by-resort picture of each area, see where to stay in Aruba and Palm Beach vs Eagle Beach.

Typical mistakes

  • Booking Serene by the Sea for a nightlife trip: it is in Savaneta, far from Palm Beach.
  • Counting only the room price and forgetting taxis, which cost $16 between the main beaches.
  • Skipping the kitchen: a budget stay without one gives up the biggest saving.
  • Choosing by the beach name alone: MVC Eagle Beach is across the street from the beach, not on the sand.
