California Lighthouse Aruba: Hours, $5 Fee, Sunset

Updated on November 8, 2026

The California Lighthouse is open every day from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, costs $5 to enter, and takes no reservations; visitors can climb to the top for a 360-degree view of Aruba (Aruba Tourism Authority, read 7 November 2026). It stands on a high seaside elevation near the island's northwestern tip, in an area called Hudishibana, and the tourism board recommends sunset, when you may see the green flash.

Highlights

The top

A panorama of the island, with the western coastline's beaches and coral shorelines.

The sunset

The tourism board suggests staying for sunset, when the green flash can appear over the sea.

The name

The lighthouse is named after the S.S. California, a ship wrecked nearby.

The neighbors

Within a mile are Malmok Beach, the Spa at Tierra del Sol, The Birdie Restaurant at Tierra del Sol, Restaurant El Faro Blanco and the sand dunes.

Tips

  • The lighthouse is on L.G. Smith Boulevard in Noord, on the road that also leads to Arashi Beach, so it pairs with an afternoon swim and a sunset. Arashi Beach is the sandy stop just before it, and Malmok Beach is the snorkeling stop. If you want it as part of a guided circuit, the Aruba Half Day Island Tour is rated 4.7 out of 5 from 138 reviews on GetYourGuide (read 7 November 2026); the title does not name the lighthouse, so look at the listing's stop list. The EL Tours Explore Aruba bus tour does list the lighthouse among its stops (see Aruba island tours). For the sunset at sea instead, see Aruba sunset cruises. For information or special events, the lighthouse lists the phone +297 561 1577.

How to get there

L.G. Smith Boulevard, Noord, at the island's northwestern tip. A rental car or a taxi gets you there (see getting around Aruba); the tourism board's Arashi Beach page notes that public transport also serves the area.

Opening hours

Best: Sunset
